Which do you think is more cost-effective: treating ichthyosis at home or at clinic?
Many overseas patients with ichthyosis face a dilemma: should they order products for at-home treatment, or travel to the Zhang Jian Therapy clinic in Beijing for in-person treatment? Cost is the primary concern for most people, so let me clarify the details for you.
Due to factors such as international tariffs and cross-border logistics costs, the total price for overseas patients ordering a full set of treatment products online is higher than the base treatment fee at the domestic clinic.
Consider this example: the total cost for the same complete treatment regimen ordered online is approximately 2,000 USD; in contrast, the base treatment fee for in-person treatment at Zhang Jian Therapy clinic in Beijing is equivalent to about 1,100 USD. Standard in-person treatment lasts one week, with accommodation costing 30–50 USD per day and combined expenses for meals and local transport totaling 20–30 USD per day, plus the cost of round-trip international airfare. When all these factors are calculated, the total expenditure for traveling to Beijing for in-person treatment is roughly comparable to—or slightly higher than—the cost of ordering products for at-home treatment.
Ultimately, the decision regarding the most suitable treatment plan depends not only on cost but also on the severity of your ichthyosis. If you are unsure about the classification or severity of your condition, you can send photos of your skin for a remote consultation; our dermatologists will assess your situation and recommend either at-home treatment or in-person treatment in China.
