Invited to Author an Authoritative Academic Paper: Zhang Jian Therapy Leads a New Direction 

in Ichthyosis Diagnosis and Treatment through Rigorous Scientific Research

Recently, A special academic seminar on hereditary skin diseases has been jointly initiated by multiple national associations of Chinese and Western dermatology medicine. They formally invited the team of core experts from the Zhang Jian Ichthyosis Research Institute—which has specialized in the treatment of ichthyosis for over two decades—to author a specialized academic paper. The paper aims to provide an in-depth analysis of a comprehensive ichthyosis treatment system, offering dermatologists nationwide a standardized and practical new approach to diagnosis and care.

To complete this academic assignment, the 96-year-old founder of Zhang Jian Therapy, Zhang Jian, led his student Li Yan in synthesizing over 10,000 complete patient follow-up records spanning more than twenty years. By integrating comparative experimental data from thousands of cases across mild, moderate, and severe ichthyosis subtypes, they systematically explained the principles of the proprietary four-stage Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) fumigation and vaporization technique: "Scale Clearing – Gland Unblocking – Skin Nourishment – Relapse Prevention." They precisely identified the restoration of skin absorption and metabolic functions as the key to halting the recurrent formation of scales, thereby thoroughly overturning the long-held industry belief that ichthyosis can only be managed symptomatically rather than achieving long-term clinical recovery.

Upon publication, the paper sparked enthusiastic discussion within the dermatology academic community. It garnered unanimous praise and high acclaim from national medical journals, dermatology departments at top-tier (Grade A) hospitals, and skin rehabilitation research organizations both at home and abroad, ultimately being designated as a core clinical reference for ichthyosis treatment. Abstract: Ichthyosis is known in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) as "snake-skin lichen", a term originating from the ancient Chinese medical text Zhu Bing Yuan Hou Lun (Treatise on the Origins and Symptoms of Diseases). The text states: "It refers to a condition where a person's skin resembles snake skin with scales, which is called 'snake body'." It is also known as snake body, snake-skin lichen, snake fetus, or snake scales. "As for snake skin, it is caused by pathogenic wind invading the interstices. When the interstices are affected by wind, they become obstructed and tight, causing the blood and qi to become sluggish and turbid, failing to nourish and moisturize [the skin]. This results in patchy, peeling skin that looks like snake scales, commonly known as snake body."

In TCM practice, treating a disease must target its root, which lies in the balance of yin and yang. Through 23 years of clinical diagnosis and treatment, Zhang Jian Therapy has exclusively revealed that the root cause of ichthyosis lies in the kidneys, its fundamental basis in the spleen, and its superficial manifestation in the lungs.

As a TCM external treatment for ichthyosis, patented in both China and the United States, Zhang Jian Therapy has been clinically validated over 23 years.
