Distinctions Between Hereditary and Acquired Ichthyosis and Scientific Treatment Methods

Ichthyosis is primarily categorized into hereditary and acquired types, which differ significantly. Hereditary ichthyosis is caused by genetic factors; it typically manifests in childhood and runs in families. It is characterized by fish-scale-like skin flakes—often appearing on the outer limbs—that worsen markedly in winter and persist as a long-term condition. In contrast, acquired ichthyosis is not hereditary and generally affects adults; it is often triggered by underlying medical conditions, medication, or damage to the skin barrier, with lesions appearing on both the trunk and limbs.

Standard moisturizing products offer only temporary relief from dryness and cannot fundamentally resolve the condition. Zhang Jian Therapy holds dual patents from China and the United States and has earned widespread recognition from patients worldwide. This therapy relies exclusively on topical application—requiring no oral medication or hormones—and utilizes Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) fumigation technology to gently remove scales, unblock glands, and repair the skin barrier.

Validated by 23 years of clinical practice, this therapy is suitable for all types of ichthyosis; it has helped tens of thousands of patients restore smooth skin, delivering lasting and stable results.
